The Best Places to Spend a Weekend Around North Austin

If you’ve got a free weekend coming up and want to explore a little closer to home, North Austin has so many great spots to relax, recharge, and have fun. Whether you’re looking for good food, outdoor adventures, or local charm, you don’t have to go far to find something special.

Let’s talk about some of my favorite ways to spend a weekend right here in our corner of Texas.

Start with Coffee and a Slow Morning

I love beginning the weekend with a cozy coffee stop. If you’re near Cedar Park, Arwa and Red Horn Coffee House & Brewing Co. are both local favorites. Over in Round Rock, Mi Mundo Coffeehouse has a friendly, laid-back vibe and some of the best lattes in town.

Grab a cup, sit outside, and take a moment to slow down. That’s the beauty of North Austin life—it’s busy when you want it to be, but there’s always space to breathe.

Explore the Outdoors

We’re lucky to have some of the best parks and trails around. Brushy Creek Regional Trail is perfect for walking, biking, or just soaking up the Texas sunshine. You can also stop by Brushy Creek Lake Park for kayaking or a picnic by the water.

If you’re in the mood for something more scenic, head toward Lake Travis for a little weekend adventure. Rent a boat, watch the sunset, or visit The Oasis for drinks with a view that never disappoints.

Shop Local and Support Small Businesses

North Austin is full of local shops and markets that make weekend errands a lot more fun. Stroll through The Domain for upscale shopping, or check out 1890 Ranch in Cedar Park for a mix of boutiques and local favorites.

If you love handmade goods, don’t miss one of the local farmers or artisan markets that pop up around the area—you’ll find everything from fresh produce to home décor made by local creators.

Grab Lunch at a Local Gem

You can’t go wrong with Jack Allen’s Kitchen in Round Rock for Southern-inspired comfort food or Blue Corn Harvest in Cedar Park for local flavor and great service. For something casual, Hat Creek Burger Company is always a hit with families.

And if you’re looking for a relaxing glass of wine or a nice meal, The Grove Wine Bar & Kitchen or Salt Traders Coastal Cooking make great weekend spots for date night or dinner with friends.

Catch Some Local Entertainment

If you enjoy live music, you’ll find plenty of it here. Check out local breweries like Whitestone Brewery or Red Horn for a fun night out with good music and community vibes. For something a little different, Haute Spot in Cedar Park often hosts concerts and local events under the stars.

If you’re in the mood for a quieter night, grab tickets for a movie at Flix Brewhouse, where you can enjoy dinner and a show all in one place.

Sunday Slow Down

Wrap up the weekend with brunch at Cafe Java in Round Rock or Morning Sunshine Café in Cedar Park. Then, take a walk through Old Settlers Park or browse Round Rock Premium Outlets before heading home.

Sometimes the best weekends are the ones that don’t involve travel plans or big itineraries—just good food, local charm, and a little Texas sunshine.

Whether you’re new to the area or you’ve been here for years, North Austin always has something new to discover. And if you’re thinking about making this part of Texas your permanent home, I’d love to show you around and help you find a place that fits your lifestyle.
